PRIMARY POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Performs general managerial duties as they relate to the Stores, Warehouse and inventory control functions for the department. Manages and directs storemen and Officers as to ensure meticulous accuracy. Under general guidance of the Technical Manager, this position provides supervision for the staff handling store keeping and documentation.

Organizes the work assignments among the team, so that schedules are met

Monitoring store job activities (receiving, issuing, house keeping, tracking, documenting etc…)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Manages store staff, reviewing their work as to ensure correct data is entered into the system. Follow the directions, processes and procedures as given by Technical Manager, or other senior Managers.
  2. Receives requested materials from various suppliers after careful review of delivery notes, inspects items and enters data to the cost control desk.
  3. Provides recommendation report on item status for re-ordering, proper locations and discrepancies.

  5. Checks any discrepancies that are the result of the inventory check.
  6. Ensures staff files and keeps all daily transactions such as, individual tools/accessories files and inventory reports etc.
  7. Coordinates with other departments regarding the location and inventory of spare parts.
  8. Follows the company’s procedures for the Stores Section.
  9. Ensures adherence to health and safety procedures for the Section, especially those applicable to chemicals, flammable liquids, and gases.

  11. Performs any other related activities, as requested.
  12. Plans and performs regular stock takes and intermediary quality control checks for accuracy
  13. Performs periodic appraisals and evaluation of staff. Setting goals and objectives for next period.
  14. Monitor and develop all Store staff to ensure skills are maintained, and that a transfer of that knowledge is made to employees whenever appropriate
  15. Organize meetings with the staff to communicate goals, objectives, and planning and scheduling, and to motivate group to achieve these goals.
  16. Provides supervision and direction for the store staff including the following:
  1. Provides direction and instruction to subordinate staff, providing regular feedback and regular appraisals.
  2. Counsels subordinates, up to and including discipline or termination recommendations.

Follows company management policies and procedures in the application of managing subordinates.

CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS

  1. Education: Requires a high school diploma and additional vocational/ education – diploma/degree
  2. Experience:  Requires at least two to three years of general work experience in purchasing, stores, warehousing, or inventory control, preferably within the Marintime industry.  Must have an additional five years of progressively more responsible managerial roles.

Specialized Knowledge:

  1. Requires a general understanding of storekeeping methods and procedures, including forms,  coding, cross-checks, inventory control, and related activities.
  2. Requires familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and electronic parts that are used in port equipment, such as tractors, cranes, and other vehicles.

Skills:

  1. Must be able to demonstrate leadership and influencing skills.
  2. Must be able to exercise good judgment in order to set priorities.
  3. Requires excellent supervisory skills, including planning, organizing, and directing work.
  4. Must be customer service oriented, sensitive to the needs of the departments and others.
  5. Requires the ability to follow instructions, assess daily priorities, and plan the work day.
  6. Requires an ability to keep work area organized, neat and efficiently planned.
  7. Requires good time management, due to fast-moving, demanding work environment
  8. Requires intermediate to advanced verbal and written communications skills in English, in addition to effective interpersonal skills.
  9. Specialized Knowledge:
  10. Requires specific knowledge of storing systems and principles.
  11. Must have knowledge of general supervisory principles..
  12. Must have a working knowledge of supervisory and leadership principles, with the ability to influence other team members in a positive way and lead a department of individuals.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  1. Work environment consists of offices, port operational areas, and areas under repair and maintenance.
  2. Required to observe all safety and health requirements for various work environments.
  3. Must have professional appearance, consistent with local customs.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

The following general accountabilities are also specific to PCHS Terminal:

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must be able to work in rotating shifts, days, evenings, and nights.  Requires overtime work, and work on holidays and weekends, depending upon shift schedule.  Work week is 5 days per week at 8 hours per day, 40 hours of regularly scheduled hours, subject to work load and company commitments.
  • Must be able to work in extremely hot and dusty conditions, and occasionally, conditions of high levels of noise and humidity..
  • Observe the provisions of the relevant PCHS policies and procedures.

 

Position: Graphic Designer

Nature of the Role:

The graphic designer would be responsible for the visual illustrations and production of communication creatives for the company.

This candidate is responsible for visual communication through online marketing banner creation, print and outdoor advertising, ambient media, souvenirs, animations, brochure creation and print collateral etc…

Responsibilities:

  • Developing design briefs that suit the company’s communications purpose;
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and developing interactive design;
  • Using innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time;
  • Demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches and working on layouts ready for print;
  • Commissioning illustrators and photographers;
  • Working with a range of media, including computer-aided design (CAD) and keeping up to date with emerging technologies;
  • Proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work
  • Editing video

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of OND in an Fine Art/graphic design field, or a minimum of 3 years advertising, graphic design, or related experience required
  • Strong Photoshop, Illustrator, and Power Point skills on a Windows platform, along with digital photography skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be flexible and able to deal with demanding deadlines.
  • Video editing skill is an added advantage

Remuneration: This is very attractive and is in line with the existing rate in the industry.
