SIFAX Group Appoints Two Executive Directors

SIFAX Group, a multinational corporation with diverse interests in Maritime, Aviation, Haulage & Logistics, Oil & Gas and Hospitality, has announced the appointment of two new executive directors to man key management positions.

Dr. Fola Rogers-Saliu, who until her new appointment was Secretary General to Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, MON, the Honorary Consul, Republic of Djibouti in Nigeria, has now been given the mantle of leadership as Executive Director, Human Resources and Administration while Mr. Michael Adebayo Owope, who was overseeing the Group’s Inland Container Depots (ICDs), is now the Executive Director, Finance.

Dr. Fola Rogers-Saliu, has a PhD in Education & Counseling Psychology from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria; a Post-Graduate Certificate in Emotional Education (PGCEE), from University of Derby, United Kingdom, and Post-Graduate Diploma in International Health Consultancy from University of Liverpool (School of Tropical Medicine), UK.

Her PhD thesis and research which was based on communication skills training and problem solving techniques to improve the administrative competence of administrators, had fueled her interest and contribution to human resource issues in organizations and institutions in Nigeria and other parts of the world.

She is a prolific, astute, well-read and widely travelled international consultant with over 28 years experience in capacity building for leadership and management. Her core area of expertise is international project management with focus on training and business development.

Her work experience spans both the local and international scenes. On the international front, Rogers-Saliu worked with Terence Higgins Trust, (THT) London, for over nine years as a manager, accredited trainer and mentor to African service development organizations. She was also a visiting lecturer to University of Surrey, Guildford on the practitioner’s programmes and also taught Project Management to Post graduate students of CVDP, a centre for Antigua University. Prior to relocating to UK, she worked extensively as a Consultant to many private organizations, schools, government programmes and non government organizations. Her focus was on inspection, recruitment, skills audit, assessment and evaluation.

On her return from UK, she worked as a service provider on the World Bank funded Lagos State Eko Project. She has also been a faculty member to Centre for International Advanced & Professional Studies (CIAPS), Lagos, a centre associated to Cambridge University, UK.

As an emotional education specialist, Dr. Fola Rogers is set to drive managers and other business leaders to operate in ‘emotional intelligent’ ways to meet the needs of today’s workers especially as the workplace continues to evolve, making room for new technologies and innovations.

Mr. Michael Adebayo Owope, who qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 and became an ICAN fellow in 2007, holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and an MBA from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho. He is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

He has acquired diverse experience in insurance, maritime accounting and internal control processes spanning over a decade covering such areas as Payroll Accounting, Credit Control, Annual Reports and Statutory Returns, Management Reports; Cash Flow Planning and Management, Investment and Portfolio Management, Budgeting and Budgetary Control, Taxation and Tax Management, Due Diligence Investigations, among others.He joined SIFAX Group in 2006 as the Group Head, Internal Control before a brief stint at SAHCOL, a member of SIFAX Group, as General Manager, Finance and Administration. He served as General Manager, Administration and Stevedoring in Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited, another member of SIFAX Group before moving to his last duty post as Executive Director, Inland Container Depots.
